This exceptional antique dining set showcases the height of traditional English tableware design from the early 20th century. While originally crafted as individual open salt cellars, their matching proportions, beaded rims, and identical cobalt blue glass liners allow them to be beautifully presented together as a rare, luxury salt and pepper master set.
The Left Piece (Salt Cellar): A highly ornate, rare design by W. Gordon & Co. featuring exquisite chased floral scrollwork and distinctive lion-headed pedestal feet. The underside displays a prominent antique hallmark including their signature name banner and a "Silver on Copper" designation.
The Right Piece (Pepper Cellar): A classic pedestal-base cellar by W&S Rogers. It mirrors the elegant floral motif and beaded trim of its counterpart, resting on a clean, tiered round foot. It features the stamped manufacturer mark and model No. 4258.
Both pieces feature their original, vibrant cobalt blue glass inserts. Historically, these glass liners were essential to protect the fine silver-plating from the highly corrosive properties of salt.
